Tomorrow I have my first subbing job of the school year. A new top has been purchased for the occasion, and I have done my menu planning and grocery shopping, all in anticipation of the day I'd hear from Leesha (the school secretary). She called this morning and so I go, only a little reluctantly. Summer is officially over, and where did the time go?
I'm looking forward to it because I still love school. I don't think I will ever leave the school environment. There is such flexibility with my schedule (though I tend to be a girl who can't say no, so, perspective is everything). I love the students. I love teaching. I love teachers. I love chalk, and new pencils and even the little imps who try my patience (they are great models of reference for protagonists!)
It's a great job for a writer who wants to stay in touch with her audience, and still actually have time to write. This is a very good thing.
It just doesn't feel like a career. That's all. But really, how many jobs do?
Do you like your job? How does it feed your muse?

I think my job ate my muse. Or mayb I confused my muse for a sammich!
But seriously, not a word has flown from these fingertips in... well, a coon's age.
